Popcorn.AI is where kernels of ideas come to PoP!
Amina Crooks publishes insightful and intellectually stimulating articles on Medium, where she critically examines the socio-cultural implications of artificial intelligence. Her writings delve into how AI is reshaping human cognition, social interactions, and environmental stewardship. Through a thoughtful and academically grounded lens, she explores the deep, often subtle ways in which technology is transforming our lives, encouraging readers to consider the broader, long-term impacts of AI on society and culture.
In 2022, I co-authored a white paper entitled: “Why hasn’t AI delivered on its promise?” with Peter Evans-Greenwood and Kellie Nuttall.
In the paper, we highlight several key barriers. One primary issue is the mismatch between AI's capabilities and how organisations are integrating it into their operations. Businesses often struggle with transforming work processes to align with AI, focusing too much on automating tasks rather than rethinking workflows to maximise AI's potential.
Additionally, challenges such as data quality, technical infrastructure, and lack of skilled talent prevent AI systems from scaling effectively.
Despite these setbacks, there remains significant potential if organisations rethink their strategies and invest in the right complementary technologies.
Unleashing the GenAI Elephant: Transform Your Organisation One Byte at a Time
As organisations set out to tackle the embedding of GenAI into their processes, products and services in search of increased productivity and competitive edge, the most valuable piece of counsel may just be to break it down into pieces and take it in stride - achievement is incremental.

Advancing LLMs using 3 ways that have led to humanity’s success
There are some interesting parallels and insights to how we are developing machine intelligence leveraging 3 human capabilities that have over history contributed to our success as a species: collaboration, an imagined set of rules and storytelling.
Humans and GenAI - Lost in Translation.
Ever since large language models (LLMs) were released into the public domain, a new form in the art of human language has emerged - prompt engineering: how humans can effectively communicate with AI models and machines.

If feedback is a gift, can AI help us give more
For negative feedback to be constructive it needs to delivered as a “reward” and not a danger.
